Mrs. Ida E. Bernard*, widow of the late Jeremiah Bernard, of Doe Run, died yesterday at the home of her son, James Bernard 330 West Lincoln Highway, Coatesville at the age of 82 years. She had been ill only a week. Her death was due to a heart condition.
Mrs. Bernard was born in Philadelphia on April 4, 1850. Following her marriage she moved to a farm near Doe Run where she lived all of her married life. She came to Coatesville three years ago and had been living here since. Up until about a week ago she had enjoyed good health except for a few slight attacks of illness which were not serious.
She was a member of Fallowfield Friends Meeting, Ercildoun, and for some time before her death the only living charger member of the Doe Run Farmers' Club. She was also a charter member of the Doe Run Grange, and was very active in Children's Aid work in the county. She was widely known in Doe Run and vicinity because of her interest in community affairs and her devotion to her family.
Surviving her are three sons an a daughter as follows: Walter J., of near Buck Run; Mrs. William T. Lamborn, of near Kennett Square; James E. and Norris, both of Coatesville. She also had four sisters: Mrs. Harriett Webb, Middletown; Mrs. Sara Harry, Coatesville; Mrs. Caroline Hughes, Philadelphia, and Mrs. Mary Baker, of West Chester, and five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
