GySgt enlisted in the Marines 3 August 1949 in Oklahoma City and served during the Korean War.

Arriving in Vietnam he was assigned to Kilo Company, 3rd Battalion, 5th Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division. During Operation Union Kilo Company was engaged by hostile forces

5 kilometers east of Que Son. GySgt died as a result of gunshot wounds to the body from hostile small arms fire. The Marines lost 12 men during the fighting.

Tour of duty unknown.

GySgt served his country for 16 years.

Survived by his mother, Minnie M Armstrong of Denver, Colorado, his ex-wife; Margaret Armstrong and his 3 daughters, Margaret L, Denna L and Susan M Armstrong and son, Edward M Armstrong all of Atoka, OK.

His father, Edmond Armstrong was deceased.
