Beverly Ann Haselhorst, 58, died January 5, 2009 at her Great Bend, Kansas, residence. She was born November 9, 1950 at Great Bend, Kansas, the daughter of Frank Joseph, III and Cecelia (Younger) Steffan. She married Daniel Joseph Haselhorst May 22, 1971 at Great Bend. A lifetime Great Bend resident, Mrs. Haselhorst was a library media specialist for Unified School District 428, Great Bend.

Mrs. Haselhorst was a member of the Prince of Peace Parish at St. Patrick Catholic Church, the Altar Society, Companions in Christ, and Retired Teachers Association. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, playing cards, and fishing. She especially enjoyed playing games and reading with her grandchildren, always stressing the importance of education, family fellowship, and fun. Mrs. Haselhorst's family recalls many summer days that were filled with laughter and pleasure beside their swimming pool, as each grandchild fine-tuned his or her swimming skills. Mrs. Haselhorst was a devoted wife and committed mother, turning every family occasion into a special event. Above all, she possessed a rich spirituality that was passed down to her children and grandchildren.

Survivors include her husband, Dan Haselhorst, of the home; two sons: Eric Haselhorst and wife, Christina, Dodge City, Kansas; and Jason Haselhorst and wife, Katie, Pratt, Kansas; one daughter: Amy Myers and husband, Greg, Bowie, Texas; mother: Cecelia Steffan, Great Bend, Kansas; two brothers: Jerry Steffan, Great Bend, Kansas; and Ken Steffan, Lake Forest, California; two sisters: Betty Zink, Olmitz, Kansas; and Marilyn Dougherty, Great Bend, Kansas; seven grandchildren: Matthew Haselhorst, Allison Haselhorst, Kara Haselhorst, Ethan Myers, Kayden Myers, Hunter Haselhorst, and Ian Haselhorst. She was preceded in death by her father, Frank Joseph Steffan, III; and one grandson, Justin Wyatt Haselhorst.

Altar Society Rosary will be at 4:00 p.m., Thursday, January 8, 2009 at Bryant Funeral Home. Vigil Service will be at 7:00 p.m., Thursday at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Great Bend. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 a.m., Friday, January 9, 2009 at St. Patrick Catholic Church. Father Reginald A. Urban will be celebrant. Burial will be in Everett Cemetery, Great Bend. Friends may call from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Thursday, January 8, 2009 at Bryant Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials are requested to Holy Family School Endowment Fund or Prince of Peace Parish, both in care of the funeral home.
