TERRY GRANT HAYDEN, 63, of Centerton, Mo., died Friday, Jan. 9, 2009, at the Villa Marie Skilled Nursing Facility. He was born Dec. 17, 1945, in Berryville, a son of Roy Theo and Irene Margaruite Carter Hayden.
He was a 1963 graduate of Maries County R-11 High School in Belle, Mo., and was a graduate of Central Missouri State University in Warrensburg, Mo. Terry served in the U.S. Air Force in England during the Vietnam War era from 1966 to 1969, attaining the rank of sergeant.

On June 25, 1988, he was united in marriage in Belle to Verita (Goggin) Ponder, who survives him of the home. Terry worked for the Missouri Department of Corrections, Division of Probation and Parole, from 1988 to the present, currently serving as a Parole Officer II. He was a member of Solid Rock Family Church in Jefferson City, Mo.

Other survivors include one son, Christopher Hayden and wife Debra of Columbia, Mo.; one daughter, Sarah Platt and husband Zachary of St. Charles, Mo.; two stepsons, Rocky Ponder and wife Meg of New Bloomfield, Mo., Randy Ponder and wife Nichole of Jefferson City; six grandchildren, Dalton Ponder, Sam Ponder, Brianna Hayden, Shelby Hayden, Chance Ponder, and Rylie Ponder; one brother, James Hayden and wife Kathryn of Millersburg, Mo.; two sisters, Sharon Gray and husband Dennis of St. James, Mo., and Lynne Hayden of Cheyenne, Wyoming; and a step-sister, Peggy Leonard and husband Dave of Summerfield, Mo.

He was preceded in death by one grandson, Cole Ponder.

Funeral services were held Jan. 13 at Solid Rock Family Church with Rev. Joe Skiles officiating. Interment with full military honors followed in Riverview Cemetery. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the Solid Rock Family Church, 508 Hunters Run, Jefferson City, MO 65109. Arrangements were under the direction of Houser-Mallard Funeral Home.
