MRS. FANT-COSBY DIES SUDDENLY SUNDAY A.M.

Mrs. Alma Bishop Fant Cosby age 54 years, died suddenly last Sunday morning at six o'clock following a short illness, which was described as a cerebral attack on Sunday morning June 25th.

She was a member of the Mountain Spring Baptist Church and was a familiar figure in the affairs of that church and community for many years.
Funeral service was held from the Mountain Spring Church on Monday morning at nine o'clock with Rev. Laney and Elder Shaddix being the officiating ministers. Interment was in the Mountain Spring Cemetery with Robinson & Cutler of LaFayette being in charge of funeral arrangements.
Surviving are a husband John Cosby; three sons Rush Fant of Wetumpka, Tommie and Ray Fant of Chambers County; three daughters Mrs. Wayne Allen, Mrs. Fred Harmon and Jewell Fant all of Chambers County.

SECOND MARRIAGE TO MR. COSBY.

After the death of her husband Lon Fant, Alma married John H. Cosby, much to the displeasure of her father and children. B.H. Bishop, her father, wrote a letter from his home in Texas admonishing her not to marry him because "he had nothing in property and no sense"! For whatever reason she married Mr. Cosby but only lived a few years with him before her death. The farm and home that she and Lon had bought near Lafayette (known as the Will Leverett place) was sold before this 2nd marriage occurred, and money divided among her and the Fant children. The two oldest Fant daughters (Alta and Hattie) did not want John Cosby living in their father's home.
The marble slab over Alma Fant's grave only has her surname of Fant - Cosby was omitted.
