Russell Frank Albright, age 80 of rural Albany, Wisconsin, died Sunday, January 25, 2009 at Pleasant View Nursing Home in Monroe. He was born February 16, 1928 in Monroe, WI, the son of Frank and Hulda (Buri) Albright and graduated from Albany High School.
Russell and Carole Jean Lunde were married March 27, 1954 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Madison, WI and they farmed on the Albright Century farm in Mt. Pleasant Township, at rural Albany until he retired from milking cows in the early 1980's. Russell learned the electrical trade from his uncle, Louis Buri in Monroe after graduation from high school and was an electrical contractor along with his farming. He also worked at Huber Brewery in Monroe from 1975 to 1993. Russell was a member of Albany United Methodist Church and Albany Masonic Lodge #36 F&AM. Russell loved to tell stories, meet people and visit, and always had a joke to tell to bring a smile. He loved life and loved to travel with his wife and Sheltie dog, "Tippy."
Surviving are his wife, Carole Jean Albright; daughter, Kathy J. (Paul) Mangan of Oregon, WI; son, William L. (Ada) Albright of Monroe, WI; granddaughters, Dr. Lisa and Lori Albright; and step-grandchildren, Tony Astle, Brian Mangan, Paula West, Maureen Minn, and Mathew Mangan. He was predeceased by his parents; daughter, Sandy Albright; and son, Tommy Albright.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, January 30, 2009 at ALBANY UNITED METHODIST CHURCH with Pastor Pat Soddy officiating. Burial will follow in Hillcrest Cemetery at Albany, WI.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at SHRINER-HAGER-GOHLKE FUNERAL HOME, 1455 Mansion Drive and 18th Avenue in Monroe, WI with Albany Masonic Lodge #36 service at 7 p.m. and visitation also at the church from 10 a.m. until time of service Friday.
A memorial fund is being established in Russell's memory.
