OBITUARY;
The Meridian Tribute", Meridian, Texas-- Firday, 30 March 1928:

Rev. H. Allen was born in Kentucky nearly 84 years ago. He came to Texas in 1907. He was the father of six children, five of whom are living; one died in infancy. All were with him in his last illness but the oldest daughter, who lives in Heflin, Alabama. This old Christian man had been a preacher for a good many years, no doubt his able sermons and Godly life has won many a soul to Jesus. To him the sorrows of this life are over and he has gone to the home that Jesus prepared for him. He died at the home of his son, Rev. Bob Allen, who lives between Iredell and Meridian. He was taken ill Tuesday evening and went to sleep and never awoke. He died Friday morning at 5 o'clock.
The funeral was held in the Baptist Church, Saturday afternoon, March 24th and was in charge of Rev. F. E. Kirchner of Mederidian. After all had taken their last look, the body was borne to the Riverside Cemetery. The relatives from out of town who attended the funeral were:
W. P. Allen of Fredrick, Oklahoma; Mrs. J. F. Pickle of Haskell; Mrs. A. G. Scott and R. J. Allen of Iredell; Mr. and Mrs. Will Sligar and children, and Mrs. Hughes of Breckenridge; Ben Scott, Ernest Allen and family, Spencer Allen and wife of Ft. Worth; and Russell Allen of Morgan. The heart broken companion and children want to thank the good people here for their kindness to them in the illness and death of their husband and father, also thank the friends for the floral offerings. The relatives have the sympathy of their many friends in the loss of their loved one.
Grandma Allen and her daughter, Mrs. A. G. Scott, will live in the former's house in north Iredell.
