Lyle Poppens was born Aug. 23, 1955 in Sioux Falls, SD to Elmore and Tena (Javers) Poppens. He attended school in Lennox, graduating from high school in 1973.
On June 21, 1975 he married Sandra Hagen in Lennox. They made their home near Lennox while Lyle worked for the Pioneer Seed Co. which was located near Tea. When the plant moved, Lyle and Sandra moved to Marcus, IA were Lyle lived and remained employed with Pioneer.
Lyle enjoyed spending time fishing, boating, weekends at their cabin, working outdoors, and riding his motorcycle. He adored his granddaughter, Alexis.
He was preceded in death by his parents Elmore and Tena Poppens.
He is survived by his wife, Sandy; son, Michael in Oregon; daughter: Lisa in DesMoines, IA; granddaughter, Alexis Poppens; brothers: Larry (Audrey) Poppens and twin Lloyd (Gloria) Poppens, all of Chancellor; sisters: Lorna (Oliver) Boterman of Tea and Linda Kidd of Canton; and many nieces and nephews.
