Services for Mr. Joy "J. D." Goodman, age 74, of Lindale are scheduled for 2:00 P.M. Sunday, July 9, 2006 in the Caudle-Rutledge Funeral Home Chapel in Lindale with Rev. Edward Ridge officiating. Interment will follow in the Damascus Cemetery near Lindale. Mr. Goodman died Friday, July 7, 2006 in a Tyler hospital. He was born August 10, 1931 in Lindale to Roy and Alta Loma Roberts Goodman and was a lifelong resident of the Lindale area. Mr. Goodman was a veteran of the Korean Conflict serving in the United States Navy and was a member of the Damascus Baptist Church. He was also a member of the American Legion, United Steel Workers Union #747, Smith County Peace Officers Assn., Sheriff's Assn. of Texas, and a lifetime member of the National Rifle Assn. Mr. Goodman was retired from the Goodyear Tire Co. after 33 years, served as reserve deputy for Smith County Sheriff's Dept. for 14 years, and was an Avid Hunter.

He is survived by his Wife, Mrs. Mackie Goodman of Lindale; 5 Sons, & Daughters-in-law, Mike & Tracy Goodman of Frankston, Tommy & Kelly Goodman and Keith & Melinda Goodman, all of Lindale, Hubie & Daphne Fryer of Fairfield, and Scott & Sheila Lawrence of Whitehouse; 10 Grandchildren, Daniel & Amanda Goodman McAbee of Canton, Daryl Goodman of Lindale, Jordan Goodman of Frankston, Brandon & Christa Goodman of Bossier City, LA, Justin Goodman of Lindale, Tarran & Rusty Williams of Tyler, Ryan Romine of Lindale, Jeffrey Fryer of Fairfield, Schiler & Jayme Lawrence of Whitehouse; and 5 Great Grandchildren, Kaylee, Kaydee & Levi Williams of Tyler, Kylee Goodman of Bossier City, LA, and Dylan Romine of Arlington.

Serving as pallbearers will be Benny Dimsdle, Scott Lawrence, Hubie Fryer, Jeffrey Fryer, Dwayne Pritchett, Bobby Goodman, Ted Douglas, and Zane Hayes. Honorary pallbearers will be Finis Clinton, Bill Logsdon, Errie Austin Winkler, and Mike Glass.
