Mrs Julia Bailey of 110 May St., died at her home early Sunday . She had been in failing health for several years.
Born Julia Shively, May 2, 1894 at Waukon, she was the daughter of Amos and UDora (Pettit) Shivley, When she was young the family moved to Marshalltown where she received her education in the Marshalltown Public Schools.
In 1911 she was married to Samuel Menter and they lived in Marshalltown, To this union seven children' were born Her second Marriage was to George Kent on Nov 10, 1923 in Navada , Story Co. Iowa. George Kent father is George Kent and mother Nora Watson . On August 12, 1924 in Eldora she married Dewey T. Bailey and they had always lived in this city. Mr. Bailey died in 1960.
Also preceding her in death were three children' in infancy, two sisters, two half-brothers, a great grand-daughter and a step great-granddaughter.
Surviving are four children, B.L. Menter and Charles Menter, Mrs. Robert Green, Mrs. Lloyd Eurom, and a step daughter, Mrs. Arnold Henze, all of Marshalltown. Also surviving are 10 grand-children, 22 great-grandchildren, 9 step-great grandchildren, a half brother Clarence Shivley and numerous nieces and nephews.
Services were held from the Chapel of Estel Perrin Funeral Home at 3 p.m. Tuesday with the Rev. Dr. James Delahooke in charge.
