Jewell Coley Vanhoy Hill, 84, of 41286 Mt. View Church Road, Albemarle, died at 12:15 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 22, 2009, at Stanly Manor Nursing Center.
Born Aug. 26, 1924, in Stanly County, she was the daughter of the late Lewis Cardell and Martha Burris Coley.
She was married to the late Hobert L. Vanhoy who preceded her in death in 1974. She was also preceded in death by her second husband, William Hill, in 1996.
She is survived by a son, Teddy Joe Vanhoy of Arlington, Tex.; a daughter, Mitzie Lanier of New London; two brothers, Johnny Coley of Mt. Pleasant and Billy Coley of Albemarle; three sisters, Geri Burleson and Barbara Talbert, both of Albemarle, and Eleanor Yow of Concord; three grandchildren, Mark Collins, Sarah Westover and Brian Vanhoy; and two great-grandchildren, Catherine Westover and Kip Collins.
She was a retired employee of Dawson Consumer Products. She was educated at Badin Schools and was a Sunday school teacher.
Her funeral will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 25, at Lakeview Baptist Church in Albemarle, where she was a member.The Rev. Tab Whitley will officiate and burial will be in Fairview Memorial Park.
