SSGT Daniel L Ruff, USAF , (RET), born March 12, 1921, died July 7, 1986 in a local hospital after a short illness.
Originally from Opelika, Alabama, Mr Ruff had lived in El Paso for more than 30 years. Member of the Baptist Faith. Retired from the U.S. Air Force, also retired from the Civil Service at Ft. Bliss after 20 years of service.
Survived by his son Richard Ruff, daughter Gloria Ruff, Denver, CO, mother Mattie Ruff, Opelika, AL, sister Marjorie Vereen, Middletown, CT, niece Candis Parker, nephews Chris & Buddie Thomas, Opelika, AL, uncle and aunt Mr. and Mrs. J.B. Dowdell, Nycke, NY, uncle Stepney Dowdell, Auburn, AL, aunt Louvinia Vinson, beloved friend Wenell Rogers, El Paso.
Funeral Service will be at 1:30 PM Thursday at Martin Chapel. Rev. James L Williams of Mt. Zion Baptist Church officiating. Pallbear ers Robert Spruell, Abraham Beamon, C. Wynn, Bernard Cumber, Burnes D. Hudson and L.C. Marlin.
Mr. Ruff will lie in state from 4:00 until 9:30 PM Wednesday and from 8:00 AM until service time Thursday at Martin Funeral Home. Burial in Ft. Bliss National Cemetery, military honors will be accorded.
