Tommy Murphy Jr., of Mesquite, passed away July 21, 2009 at the age of 79. He was born on August 11, 1929 to Tommy and Edith Mae Murphy in Smith County, Texas. Mr. Murphy served his county in the U.S. Army and also enjoyed fishing with his family. He is survived by sons: James Maciel and wife Susie, Michael Murphy and wife Anita; step-daughters: Pat Sparks and husband Raymond, Evelyn O'Lexy and husband Ernest; step-sons: John Edward Beavers and wife Patricia, and Charles Beavers; brothers: J.D. and Bobby Gerald Murphy; sister: Edith Moore and husband Bobby; 16 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren; plus a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Mr. Murphy was preceded in death by his wife Pauline and also wife Rayoma, parents, and a brother Billy Ray. A funeral service will be held at 10:00am Saturday, July 25, 2009 at Anderson-Clayton Bros. Chapel. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 6:00 to 8:00pm and an hour prior to the service. Serving as pallbearers will be Michael Murphy, Brian Murphy, Pat Wayne Bostick, Doug Murphy, Samuel Smith, and Paul Bell. Interment will be held at Rader Cemetery.
