Joy Maxine Roberts Hicks, 76, of Elizabethtown, died Friday, Jan. 23, 2009 at Maury Regional Medical Center in Columbia, Tenn.

A native of Savoy, she was a homemaker and a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She collected dolls and enjoyed making fudge and various types of ceramics. She loved giving and receiving hugs. She attended the Assembly of God in Elizabethtown.

She was preceded in death by her parents, J. W. and Laura Turvey Roberts; and three sisters, Lillian Simpson, Arvilla Bush and Mary Wigginton.

Survivors include her husband of 59 and-a-half years, Fred Junior Hicks; three daughters, Debbie (Fred) Wells of Speedwell, Tenn., April (Steve) Wilson of Murfreesboro, Tenn. and Pamela Hicks of Columbia, Tenn.; two sons, Tim (Maureen) Hicks of Columbia, Tenn. and Daryl Hicks of Grand Rapids, Mich.; two sisters, Margie (J.W.) Faulkner of Brooklyn, Mich., and Jackie Crawford of Elizabethtown; six grandchildren, Shannon Hicks, Matthew (Chasta) Hicks, David (Sarah) Owens, April (Tommy) Inman, Shane (Tiffany) Wilson and Jeremy Wilson; and ten great-grandchildren, Jordan Cole, Brianna Cole, Makaia Hicks, Tyler Owens, J. D. Owens, Sydney Owens, Shawn Hill, Sean Baird, Zachary Owens and Zoee Wilson.

The funeral is at 4 p.m. Sunday at Brown Funeral Home with the Rev. Ronald Worley officiating. A graveside service is at 2 p.m. Monday at Wofford Cemetery in Williamsburg.

Visitation will be from noon to 4 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
