Born on Apr. 1, 1914 at St. George, Utah, a daughter of John Wallace and Matilda Jane Denning Duncan. She married Clarence Franklin Mongum on October 28, 1928 at Bonneville, Idaho. She later married Lester Hammond Batty on September 9, 1941. He died in 1964

She passed away on December 8, 1986 at St. George, Utah and buried at La Verkin Cemetery.

Officers Call Probe in Utah Death

ST. GEORGE--Sheriff's officers
here Sunday were investigating
the death of Lester Hamomond
Batty, 63, Washington, Washington
County, Tuesday in a St. George
Hospital.

HOSPITAL attendants said
Mr. Batty was admitted April
12.

Sheriff Evan G. Whitehead
said Sunday a hospital
spokesperson told him Mr.
Batty had reportedly been
injured during a car-towing
operation.

THE SHERIFF said no report
had been made to county offi
cers at the time Mr. Batty was
taken to the hospital.
A check of local police and
Highway Patrol officers showed
no report had been made to
those agencies, Sheriff Whitehead
said.

MR. BATTY was born June
11. 1900, in Toquerville, Washington
County, a son of Mathew
and Olive Hammond Batty.
He married Wanda Duncan Sept.
3, 1941, in Lss Vegas, and had
been engaged in farming.
Survivors include his widow;
sons, Buddy D., with U.S.
Army, Germany; Michael Lester,
Washington; brothers, sisters,
Ben, New Harmony, Washington
County; Roy, Cedar City;
Willard, Mrs. Linn Reeves, both
of Kanarraville, Iron County,
and Mrs. Lena Johnson, Cedar
City.
FUNERAL services will be
conducted Wednesday at 2 p.m.
in the Toquerview Ward Chapel,
Church of Jesus Christ of
Latter-Day Saints.
