Lowell Trigg was born in the village of Bellair, Illinois, the third of four children of Roscoe W Trigg and Clara Alma Bledsoe. He attended the one-room schoolhouse in Bellair and graduated from Oblong High School in 1937. He married Lola Dale Shaffer in 1941 at Old Monroe, Missouri. The couple had one son.
Lowell enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1942. He received photo reconnaissance training in Colorado and served in the U.S. Army Air Corps as an aerial photographer in World War II. After the war, the family moved to Phoenix, AZ, and later to Pompano Beach, FL, and Brighton, MI, where he was living at the time of his death. Lowell was a horse trainer and harness racing driver. He was a great lover of animals and was devoted to his horses and coon hounds. When living in Arizona, he collected tropical fish and birds.
