Angel was assigned to the (Virginia) 116th Infantry Regiment, 29th Infantry Division, which landed on Omaha Beach during the first day of the Normandy Invasion. He was killed at age 19 about two weeks after the American capture of the city of Saint-Lo, Normandy.
