Mr. Hobart Augustus Young, age 81, of 5211 Furman Place died Friday, April 27, 1979, after a long illness. Funeral services ill be Monday at 3:30 p.m at the Hankins & Whittington Funeral Chapel with Reverend Leighton McKeithen, associate minister of Covenant Presbyterian Church, officiating. Interment will be in Elmwood Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Hubert M. Thomason, C.O. Pope, K.P. Lineberger, Gordon Brant, Joe Hubbard and Howart Protz. Mr. Young was born in Buncombe County, N.C., on March 21, 1898. He was retired from the railway post office where he was employed for 42 years, and at his retirement he was general foreman. He was a veteran of World War I. Surviving are two sons, Hobert A. Young, Jr., of Dallas, Texas, and Gerard N. Young of Charlotte; a daughter, Mrs. Sara Boone of Montreal, Canada; two brothers, Mr. Frank Young and Mr. Howell Young, both of Asheville, N.C.; two sisters, Miss Lacey Young of Asheville and Mrs. Celia Gudger of Candler, N.C.; and five grandchildren.
