Phillip Lorenzo Bogler, 76, died January 6, 1995, at Crosslands Care Center after a two year struggle with Alzheimer's Disease.

Phil was born October 27, 1918 in Salt Lake City to George John and Florence Cracroft Bogler. He graduated from South High School. Attended Compton, California Jr. College, the U of U, and graduated from the University of Southern California. He loved golf and in his younger years was an accomplished amateur player. It was while playing in local tournaments that he met his future wife, Katherine Margetts. They were married June 26, 1955; later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. They had 39 happy years together.

Phil joined the Navy at the start of World War II and served on active duty and in the reserves until 1978, retiring as a full Lt. He saw action in the Pacific Theater and in Korea, and was the recipient of the Bronze Star.

Professionally, he was a career insurance agent, having worked in the industry for over 30 years in several positions for a number of companies, and as an independent agent. A tireless worker, he won numerous sales awards, and retired in 1993 only after being diagnosed with Alzheimer's. He was active in the LDS Church, and loved to discuss the gospel, and to collect inspirational messages.

Phil was preceded in death by his sisters, Dorothy, Irene and Leona, all of California; and is survived by his loving wife, Katherine; his son, George, both of Murray; his daughter, Kittryn and her husband, Gordon Butt, and his grandson, Dillon, all Draper.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 14, 1995, 12 noon, at the Murray 29th Ward Chapel, 6100 South 700 West. Friends may call Friday January 13, 1995, 7-9 p.m. at Jenkins-Soffe Mortuary, 4760 South State Street, and Saturday, one hour prior to services at the church.

Interment, Murray City Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Disease Association, the Salt Lake Homeless Shelter, or the Make a Wish Foundation.
