She was the daughter of Noah Americus Posey (1849-1936) and Rebecca McMillan Posey (1868-1937) born on 26 May 1908 in Wakulla County. Her parents and her maternal grandfather, Richard McMillan, are buried in Crawfordville Cemetery, as are five of her brothers: Richard, Redden, Cajer, Wilburn and Pete Posey.
On 1 Oct 1937 Pharaba married Tony Finnon "Tad" Strickland (1912-2005), who was also from Wakulla County.
Pharaba Mariah Posey Strickland passed away on 10 May 1996 in Leon County, Florida and was laid to rest in Zion Hill Cemetery among many of her husband's family.
