Johann Carl “Fred/Fritz” Frederick Lichte

Son of Johann Friedrich Wilhelm Lichte and Anne Marie Christine Wilhelmine Wittelmeyer, JOHANN CARL FRIEDRICH LICHTE was born September 3, 1844, at Jöllenbeck No. 8, Parish Gohfeld, Prussia, the same home place where his mother was born in 1823. He, his mother, and his sisters immigrated in 1854 and joined his father in Warren County, MO. This family later settled in Big Spring, Montgomery County. Returning home after serving in the Civil War, Fred Lichte married Wilhelmina "Minnie" Cordelia Meyer/Habsmeyer 04 Sep 1866 in Montgomery County, MO. The couple raised their family in the Big Spring community where Fred Lichte would later be known as Judge Lichte.

Theodore E. Porter's INDEX OF HISTORY OF ST. CHARLES, MONTGOMERY, AND WARREN COUNTIES, MISSOURI, 1885, reports that the parents of Fred Lichte, Wilhelm and Anna Christine Lichte, along with Henry Baur, were charter members of Bethany M. E. Church at Big Spring. The church was organized in 1870, but Wilhelm died in 1872 and Anna Christine in 1876; they did not live to see the construction of a frame house of worship in 1879 at the cost of $700. By 1885 there were 60 communicants. This church is in all probability the present-day Methodist Church of Big Spring. Wilhelm and Christine Lichte were buried in Niedergerke Cemetery, Big Spring.
