Loretta Jane Barre, 91, of Linton, passed away at 2:55 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 22, 2009 at Glenburn Home in Linton.
She was born in Hymera on Nov. 6, 1917 the daughter of Edward Palmer and Stella M. Sluder Palmer.

She was a member of the First Christian Church in Bloomfield, and worked as a cook for 14 years at the Kat a Korner Restaurant in Sullivan.

She was preceded in death by her husband Harvey Tuttle Barre, also one brother, Richard Palmer, four sisters, Edna Morris, Gerry Allard, Mary Zellars, and Eva Pirtle, one grandchild, two great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild.

Survivors include one son, Gene Barre of Evansville, one daughter, Rachel A. Speas of Worthington, five grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, and nine great great grandchildren.

Graveside service will be at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 24 at the Case Cemetery in Hymera with the Rev. David White officiating.

Friends may call at Newkirk's Funeral Home from 12:30 until 1:30 p.m. on Saturday.
