DEATH of MRS. N.F. Crew

About one o'clock Tuesday morning, June 23rd, 1914, the cold dry touch of death forever stilled the warm loving heart of Nancy F. Crew, age seventy-two years; daughter of J.F. Stewart and E.W. Stewart and mother of L.F. Jeter of Hilton, Ala., and Mrs. E.H. Harrison(Harrelson) of Andalusia, Ala.

Three long weeks she suffered, struggled and strove to recover, but all in vain. With all the best physical aid that could be administered, all the help and sympathy of kind friends and loved ones, she had to go. While it is so hard to give her up and our hearts are torn and riven by the untimely separation of one so dear, so gentle, and noble; it is a great consolation to know that while there is one less jewel on earth; there is an angel in heaven. Yes, she is an angel now. She will reap thousands of blessings to compensate for every throb of pain felt while here on earth.

Dearest grandmother, we miss you everywhere; we miss your voice in the family circle, we miss your smile and quickening step as you came hurrying home after a few weeks visit with relatives that seemed months to us. The eighteen years you made our home yours were happy years for all. How little did we think when we commended you to the loving care of a sister several weeks ago, that we would never see you coming home again. Home, yes, you have gone home.

"Farewell, farewell", the struggle is past, the fond ties that bound us are severed. The quickening pulse and the quivering voice silenced at length in the stillness of death. The features once radiant with life's sunny pleasure or mirth, will never again beam on the dear ones of earth.

The voice of a mother and sister, forever is silenced, gone forever, and the form of one so dear now lies moldering in the desolate grave. Death granted a joyous release from her pains and what she has lost here, immortality gains; for her soul now released from its portals of clay, has sped through eternity freely away, as fixed and as firm as the storm beaten rock that sustains in mid-ocean and with the glad tidings of Heaven's bright throng. She is now enjoying the song, "Praise be the Father, Praise be to the Son, The race is now ended, the victory is won."
