J. H. Bannister Dies At Home

John Henry Bannister, 412 South Macomb, died unexpectedly at his home Monday night.

Mr. Bannister was born at Bradford, Tenn., Sept. 24, 1877. He came to El Reno from Bradford in 1901, and was in the restaurant business until his retirement in 1940. He had been employed by the city for the past 15 years.

He was a member of the First Baptist church, El Reno lodge No. 50, AF and AM, Keystone chapter No. 9 of Royal Arch Masons, Ascension commandery No. 4 of the Knights Templar, and Reno council No. 13, all of El Reno.

Survivors include his wife, Tennie, of the home; a son, Colonel Ray Bannister, Brooklyn, N. Y., a daughter, Mrs. Hugh Willingham, Seminole, nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; a brother, Sam W. Bannister, Oklahoma City, and a sister, Mrs. Foster Bryan, Clinton, Ill.

Funeral services were conducted in the Wilson chapel at 4 p. m. Wednesday with the Rev. Jack Carroll, Oklahoma City, officiating. Masonic services followed at the chapel. Burial was in the El Reno cemetery under direction of the Wilson funeral home.
