Belle Chapman, daughter of James and Margaret Chapman, was born Nov. 20, 1884 and departed this life on Monday evening, Nov. 27, 1961 in her home at Claudell, Kan.
..When a young woman she became a member of the Cedar Mathodist church and attended many services there. She lived her entire life in the Cedar and Claudell vicinity. She was one of the early school teachers of Smith county and later worked in the telephone office at Cedar.
..On Jan. 8, 1910, she was united in marriage with Frank Draper. One son, Clyde, was born to this union.
..In May 1950 she suffered a heart attack from which she never fully recovered. She was cared for in her home by her family.
..Mrs. Draper was preceded in death by her father and mother, four sisters, six brothers and one granddaughter.
..She is survived by her husband, Frank of the home; her son, Clyde; two grandsons, Donald of Derby, Colo., and Roy of Phillipsburg; one granddaughter, Ellen of Lincoln, Neb.; and six great grandchildren. She also leaves one sister, Mrs. Laura Hydorn of Smith Center; one brother, John Chapman of Dayton, Wash., and a great number of nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
..Funeral services were held Thursday, Nov. 30th from the Simmons Chapel, in charge of Rev. Gordon Tasker. Music was furnished by Mary Anthony, Sherry Newbrey and Juanita Bierman.
..Casket bearers were: Ed Newbrey, Dan Newbrey, Junior Cole, Reed Cole, Carl Nonamaker and Ralph Hofer. Flower bearers were Marion Freeman, Blanche Dettmer, Freda Hagman and Emroy Kennedy. Burial was in Cedar cemetery.
