POPEJOY--Word was received Thursday morning by Mrs. H Decker and Mrs. W. R. Busch of the death of their brother, Burton Barnum Rice of Bellwood, Nebr., following several months of poor health. Mr. Rice was born near Ackley on July 9, 1861 to been speaker and came with is parents to Oakland Valley, near Popejoy in 1870. Here he attended school in the old brick schoolhouse and grew to manhood. Mr. Rice is survived by his wife and son, Albert, also a son by a former marriage, Floyd A. Rice, of Berea. Ky., and three sisters, Mrs. Decker and Mrs. Busch of Popejoy and Mrs. Charles Dodge of New York City. Funeral services were held at Bellwood and burial was made at Bellwood also.
