William A Stone, was a farmer, insurance agent, store owner and for a time served as Mayor of Byars.

Byars, June 27, William A Stone 69, secretary of the Farmers Union in Byars more than 40 years died Monday about noon in Saint Anthony Hospital, Oklahoma City. He was suffering from a heart condition.
Stone moved to Byars from Texas in 1910 and had served as secretary of the Farmers Union in this area since about 1924. He was a member of the Methodist Church and Masonic Lodge.
Funeral will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday in the Methodist Church with Winans Funeral Home, Maysville in charge.
He is survived by his wife Martha; five daughters, Mrs. Maud Wilson, Byars; Mrs. W J Riggan, Oklahoma City; Mrs. LaVeta Simpson, Oklahoma City, Mrs. Pauline Smith, Coalinga Calif.; Mrs. Lucille Lagali, Azusa Calif.; three sons, Delmer, Oklahoma City; George, Oklahoma City; Dale, Ardmore; two sisters, Mrs. Pearl Cantrell, Byars and Mrs. Fred Capshaw, Oklahoma City.
