Phyllis J. Bigham, 64, of 395 Jacks Mountain Road, Fairfield, died Monday, Feb. 5, 2001, at York Hospital. She was the wife of James C. Bigham for 48 years. Born May 19, 1936, in Gettysburg, she was the daughter of Blanche (Bowmaster) Baker of Gettysburg and the late Clarence Baker. She and her husband owned and operated Town & Country Real Estate in Fairfield for 25 years. Surviving are four daughters, Beverly Short and Leah Woodward, both of Carroll Valley, Roxanne Short of Orrtanna, Heidi Shaw of Fairfield; one son, James Bigham Jr. of New Oxford; four brothers, Clyde Baker of Bendersville, Paul Baker and Gayland Baker, both of Gettysburg, Stanley Baker of Fairfield; four sisters, Catherine Topper, and Maryanna Martin, both of Gettysburg, Theresa Plank of New Oxford, Nancy Martin of Abrian, Mich.; and eight grandchildren. The service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, at Monahan Funeral Home in Fairfield, with the Rev. Kenneth Reid officiating. Burial will be in Fairfield Union Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
