Christine was an HIV-positive activist who promoted the view that HIV was not the cause of AIDS. She was the founder of Alive & Well AIDS Alternatives, an organization which questions the link between HIV and AIDS and supports HIV-positive pregnant women who want to avoid taking anti-HIV medication. Maggiore authored and self-published the book What If Everything You Thought You Knew about AIDS Was Wrong? Maggiore died on December 27, 2008 after suffering from pneumonia.

Whether you agree or disagree with her politcs and medical beliefs, she was a much loved mother and wife. She had suffered the loss of her daughter Eliza Jane. Eliza's death was the source of much controversy and is still debated today.
