WILHELM C. CLEMENS II, was born in Schlewecke, Braunschweig (Germany)and came to New Braunfels, Texas with his parents. He married KATHINKA VON COLL on November 9, 1872 in New Braunfels, Comal County, Texas. He is the son of WILHELM CLEMENS I and wife, WILHELMINE BREUSTEDT.

WILHELM and KATHINKA had two sons WILHELM CLEMENS III and WALTER CLEMENS. Both never married and died without issue.

WILHELM C. CLEMENS II, aka WILLIAM C. CLEMENS, was a successful businessman acquiring many parcels of land and property throughout Texas. He was one of the first stockholders and chairman of the board of the First National Bank organized in 1890. His political life starter after the War Between the States with local political positions. He entered state politics, first as a member of the TEXAS HOUSE of REPRESENTATIVES in 1879 and then became a TEXAS STATE SENATOR in 1890. He was appointed by two Governors to serve as Chairman on the State Penitentiary Committee. The Clemens Unit in Brazoria County is named in his honor.
