OBITUARY, Connersville [IN] News-Examiner, Saturday, December 30, 1939:

James W. Pruitt, 58, Dies; Rites Monday

James W. Pruitt, 58, died at 6:30 p.m. Friday in his home, 1004 Lincoln avenue. He had been in failing health a year and had been bedfast three months. Survivors are the widow; two sons, Ferman and James, at home; five daughters, Mrs. John Woods of near Connersville, Mrs. Thelma Burke of Indianapolis, and Mary Helen, Vada and Carol Jean, at home; two brothers, Clem, of Connersville, and Bernie of New Salem.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday in the Andersonville United Brethren church with the Rev. Otis Burgdoerfer and the Rev. Samuel Clevenger of this city officiating. Friends may call at the home beginning Sunday morning.

James W. Pruitt Expires Friday

James W. Pruitt, age 58, native of Franklin county and related in Rush county, died at his home, 1004 Lincoln avenue, in Connersville, Friday evening at 6:30 o'clock. He had been in failing health a year and bedfast for the past three months.

Mr. Pruitt was born in Franklin county and spent his early life in the Andersonville community.

Survivors are the wife; two sons, Ferman and James, both at home; five daughters, Mrs. John Woods of near Connersville, Mrs. Thelma Burke of Indianapolis, and Mary Helen, Vada and Carol Jean, all at home; two brothers, Clem Pruitt of Connersville and Bernie Pruett of south of Rushville.

Funeral services will be held at the United Brethren church in Andersonville Monday afternoon at two o'clock with the Rev. Otis Burdoerffer and the Rev. Samuel Clevenger of Connersville in charge. Interment will follow in Hopewell cemetery. Friends may call at the home any time Sunday to the hour of the services.
