Catherine was a native of West Point, N.Y., she had been a Hampton resident since 1935 and was a member of St. Mary Star of the Sea Catholic Church. She graduated from Hampton High School, Mary Washington College and the University of Kentucky. Catherine worked in civil service, retiring from Langley Air Force Base in 1961 after 30+ years. There has been a long line of Clynes & Cline folk working for the US government and/or military over the years, since the first immigrant Irish Clynes came over in 1868, to Brooklyn NY.
