GRIFFIN - Eddie Mae McCalvin, 90, formerly of Tallahassee, died Sunday, June 27, 2004. The service will be at 2 p.m. EDT today at Flat Creek Freewill Baptist Church in Colquitt. The Revs. Gene Luke and Robert Johns will officiate. Internment will follow in the church cemetery. The viewing will be from 11 a.m. EDT Wednesday until the funeral hour. Conner-Westbury Funeral Home (770-227-2300) is handling arrangements. Mrs. McCalvin was born in Jackson on Oct. 17, 1913, to John N. Swearingain and Carrie Hart Swearingain. She was a member of Colquitt Assembly of God Church, but since moving to Griffin she had been attending the North Griffin Congregational Holiness Church. She is survived by her daughter, Ruth Roland (and husband Eugene) of Griffin; a son, Earl McCalvin and (wife Cathy) of Tifton, Ga.; a daughter-in-law, Barbara McCalvin of Crawfordville; grandchildren, great-grandchildren; a sister, Fannie Kelly of Dade City; a brother, Edward Swearingain (and wife Estelle) of Savannah, Ga.; a sister-in-law, Bessie Swearingain of Colquitt and many other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Wilburn McCalvin. Published in the Tallahassee Democrat from 6/29/2004 - 6/30/2004.
