Leroy d. "Dud" Murphy, 84, Barnesville, died June 28, 2000 at the Barnesville Hospital. He was born February 16, 1916 in Hendrysburg, son of the late Lorenzo D. and Nora Grace (Kiger) Murphy.
He was a retired employee of Belmont Electric and was a veteran of World War II, serving in the army. He was a Methodist by faith and was a member of the BPOE No. 1699 of Barnesville.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Hazel Catherine (Mott) Murphy; two brothers, Wilmont Murphy and Tracey Murphy; two sisters, Olive Brownfield and Elizabeth Broznick.
Surviving are one son, John Murphy of Flower Mound, Texas; four daughters, Cathy Meredith, Washington Court House, Ann Cornell, New Lexington, Mary Murphy, Green and Barb White, Lancaster; 16 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren.
Calling hours were held Friday, June 30 at Campbell-Plumly-Milburn Funeral Home, 319 N. Chestnut St., Barnesville and services held Saturday, July 1 at 11 a.m. with Father Virgil Reischman officiating. Burial was in Mt. Hope Cemetery, Hendrysburg.
