BELFAST, Maine - Former Umatilla County resident Jodie Marie (Board) Miller, 45, of Belfast, Maine, died Monday, Jan. 19, 2009, in Belfast. Services were held Thursday, Jan. 22 in Belfast. Graveside funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, Jan. 26 at the Hermiston Cemetery.

Ms. Miller was born July 24, 1963, in Pendleton to Norman and Mary Ann (Phipps) Board. She was raised in Hermiston and graduated from Hermiston High School and Blue Mountain Community College with a degree in accounting. She moved to Maine in 2004, where she made a home for herself and her daughter.

She worked as a bookkeeper and did volunteer work with New Hope for Women, an organization that helps women triumph over abusive situations and begin new lives.

Survivors include her daughter, Holly Marie Miller of Belfast, Maine; brothers Tom Board of Hermiston and Dave Board of Kalispell, Mont.; sisters Christine Cromer of Hermiston and Deborah Ashbeck of Kennewick, Wash.; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Mary Ann and Norman Board, and niece Holly Timmons of Kalispell, Mont.

Burns Mortuary of Hermiston is in charge of arrangements.
