Homer Lowe Tharp was the Son of Elijah Mercer Tharp and Georgia Ann McCall. In 1882, Homer married Martha "Mattie" Winfrey Matthews, daughter of Captain Thomas Jackson Matthews and mary Julia Drane. Their children were Chester, Julian D., Walter M., Albert J., George Winfrey, Linda Lee, Gladdis (also spelled Gladys in 1920 census) and Deane J.
