DR. JOHNSON IS ACQUITTED
Without Discussion the First Ballot Clears Dentist.
Chehalis.- Dr. Frank T. Johnson, the Centralia dentist, was acquitted of the murder of Lawrence Bar, without discussion and after one ballot by the jury, the verdict being returned into court within 20 minutes after the jury retired. The announcement of the jury’s decision was received with cheers by the crowd in the courtroom.
The testimony of Adelbert Clark, the confessed slayer of Lawrence Bar, president of a Centralia savings bank, who was killed while Clark tried to rob the bank, implicated Dr. Johnson in the crime, but the confessed murderer’s testimony was disproved by so many witnesses that the jury was led to discuss the matter of censuring the stat for bringing the case against Johnson without stronger evidence than Clark's confession.
