Albert Rogers Whitaker, 74 years of age, of Somerset, Kentucky, formerly of Spartanburg, South Carolina, passed away on Wednesday, January 21, 2009 at the Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital in Somerset, Kentucky.
He was born on June 2, 1934 in Ula, Kentucky, the son of the late Lillie Rogers Bolton and Dewey Whitaker.
He was survived by two half brothers, Donald (and Jean) Whitaker of Indianapolis, IN and Jerry (and Janet) Whitaker of Indianapolis, IN; his cousin, William Harlen Ping of Somerset, whom he lived with; a host of cousins; and his best friend, Bobby Phelps.
Preceding him in death was his mother, Lillie Rogers Bolton; his father, Dewey Whitaker; and his wife, Phoebe Price Whitaker, who passed away on December 20, 2006 in Spartanburg, SC.
Visitations were held on Friday, January 23rd, 2009 from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. at the Lake Cumberland Funeral Home in Somerset, Kentucky.
Graveside services were held on Saturday, January 24th, 2009 at the Mt. Joy Cemetery in Union, South Carolina at 2:00 p.m.
