George Lavon Gafford, 70, of Amarillo died Friday, Dec. 19, 2008.

Services will be at 2 p.m. today in Church of Christ in Turkey with Tom Anderson officiating. Burial will be in Dreamland Cemetery by Myers-Chancellor Funeral Home.

George was born Oct. 30, 1938, in Quitaque to George Gafford and Jackie Arlie Shelton Gafford. After his mother's death, he was raised by a beautiful stepmother, Judy Gafford.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and three grandchildren, Dawson Gafford, Jennifer Gafford and Melissa Klein.

Survivors include four daughters, Debra Gafford of Chickasha, Okla., Terri Klein and husband Buck of Plano, Judy Spelbring and husband Jason of Groveland, Ill., and Holly Neill and husband Jason of Pampa; two sons, Keith Gafford and wife Anne of Houston and Chad Isbell and Retta of Lubbock; a brother, Floyd Gafford and wife Betty of Amarillo; a sister, Chicquetah Pate of Lewisville; 16 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be to Make-A-Wish Foundation, 411 S. Fillmore St., Amarillo, TX 79101; or American Cancer Society, 3915 Bell St., Amarillo, TX 79109.
