Funeral services for Oretha Mae Bunning Zakovich, 69, of 408 Dewar Drive, were held Tuesday, Oct. 7, at the Episcopal Church, with the Rev. Edward Harrison officiating. Interment was in the Rest Haven Memorial Gardens.
Serving as pallbearers were Alex Clark Jr., Mark Kurtz, Christian Bunning, John Bunning Jr., Robert Bunning and David Bunning.
Mrs. Zakovich died Sunday, Oct. 5, at her home following a six-month illness.
She was born on April 8, 1911 in Rock Springs, the daughter of the late Peter Christian and Mariane Nielson Bunning. She graduated from the Rock Springs High School and attended nursing school at St. Lukes Hospital at Denver, Colo.
She was married to former Rock Springs Police Chief and Sweetwater County Sheriff John Zakovich on June 11, 1932 at Rock Springs. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her son, Paul, who died July 11, 1978 and her husband, John, who died Jan. 10, 1979.
Survivors include her sister, Mrs. Dorothy Harmon, of Rock Springs, her daughter-in-law, Mrs. Laurel Zakovich of Denver, Colo.; a grandson, Paul Zakovich of Denver, Colo. and a granddaughter, Mrs. Richard (Gale) Taylor of Denver; several nieces and nephews and several cousins. She was a member of the Episcopal Church of the Holy Communion.
