JACOBS Edith Holthe, of Fort Lee died January 20, 2009 at her daughter's home in Palisades Park. She was 91. Mrs. Jacobs was born July 2, 1917 in Arendal, Norway to Karl and Klara Ottersten Larsen. She immigrated through Ellis Island along with her mother in 1924, eventually settling in Cliffside Park. She began attending Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Cliffside Park and was confirmed there in. In that same church, she married Harold Jacobs on August 19, 1944 after he returned from battle in World War II. Mrs. Jacobs devoted her life to caring for her husband, children and grandchildren, and serving her church faithfully for 80+ years. Formerly a Sunday School teacher, choir member, altar guild, voting body, quilting club, and she most recently served her church as a Trustee. In her spare time, she enjoyed reading Christian novels, doing handwork-especially embroidery, knitting and crocheting-and baking traditional Norwegian cakes and cookies. She is survived by her two daughters Klare and her Husband Paul Schaum of High Ridge, MO, Lillian and her Husband Eric Midgley of Palisades Park; ten grandchildren and their spouses, Charles and Martha Schaum of Overland, MO, Paul and Amy Schaum of Aurora, CO, Kristie and Jorge Sanint of Hawthorne, Erik Midgley of Hackensack, Brooke and Thomas Abson of Waldwick, Carrie Midgley, Luke Midgley and Sara Midgley all of Palisades Park, Candice Midgley of Franklin Lakes, and Cody Midgley of Palisades Park; and eight great-grandchildren, Mackenzie Sanint, Logan Sanint, Emily Schaum, Jacob Schaum, Aaron Schaum, Katherine Schaum, Roald Schaum and Ryan Schaum. Mrs. Jacobs was preceded in death by her husband, Harold; her sister, Lillian Larsen and her brother Olav Larsen. Funeral service Saturday at 10 AM at the Hunt Stellato Funeral Home, 1601 Palisade Avenue, Fort Lee, NJ. Interment George Washington Memorial Park. Friends will be received Friday 2-4 and 7-9 PM.
