Mr. Derrell W. (Curley) Arnold, 50, of Lampasas died Friday, April 16, in a Lampasas hospital following a long illness. Mr. Arnold lived in Mills and Hamilton Counties before moving to Lampasas in 1969. He was the father of Mrs. David Lengefeld of Hamilton and Mrs. Elizbeth Crawford. His father was Bannie Tafton Arnold.
Funeral services were held Monday, April 19, at 4 p.m. in the First Baptist Church of Lampasas with burial in Oak Hill Cemetery. The Rev. George Gaston of Monroe, La., officiated. He was assisted by The Rev. Michael Barnard.
Mr. Arnold was born Oct. 4, 1925, in Lampasas County, and was administrator of Lampasas Nursing Home at the time of his death. He was a veteran of World War ll, had previously been employed by the Hamilton County Electric Co-op, and for 12 years was electrical superintendent for the City of Goldthwaite.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church and was an ordained deacon. He was a member of the Lampasas Lions Club.
He married Katherine Elizabeth Perry March 4, 1944, in Evant. [Hamilton County Marriage Record Book 10, pg 541]
Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Mrs. Saundra Lengefeld of Hamilton and Mrs. Elizabeth Crawford of San Saba; two grandchildren, Angela and Jon Lengefeld; three sisters, Mrs. Irma Lee Coffman of Goldthwaite, Mrs. Deane Coffman of Albuquerque, New Mex., and Mrs. Reta Mullins, Phoenix, Arix.; stepmother, Mrs. Viola Arnold of Evant. he was preceded in death by one sister, Vada Belle Arnold.
Pallbearers included Dr. M. K. Patterson, T. A. Medart, James Sargent, J. D. Harper, Charles Haenish, and D. E. Rhoades.
