LaVerne Hale was born Feb 21, 1918, at Jamestown the son of Mr. and Mrs. Jake Hale. He attended the Jamestown schools and during World War II he worked in Portland, Or. For the past 15 years he had farmed in Minnesota and had recently moved to Jamestown.

Survivors are his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jake Hale; a brother, Vevian Hale, all of Jamestown; three sisters, Mrs. Arthur Eakins, Concordia, Mrs. Wallace C. House, Mead, Neb., and Mrs. R. L. Skaggs, Chicago; and nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held on Wednesday afternoon at 1:30 in the Blachly and Buoy Funeral Home in Jamestown with the Rev. Fredrick Martin officiating. Burial will be in the Jamestown cemetery.
