Amanda Duffy's husband Phillip Joseph Duffy moved to Klamath County from northern Idaho in 1928 after he received a Civil Service appointment as a forester on the Klamath Indian Reservation, effective July 1st, 1928

September 1st, 1928 Amanda, and their children Patrick, Gene, Philip, Ruth, Phyllis, and Norman Duffy came to join Phillip.

The family spent the first night at the Balfour Hotel in Chilquin.

A couple years later the family moved to Forest Logging Camp, living there for a couple of years and then moved to Chioquin. Then came the great Depression. Many logging camps stopped their operations and the Indian Service Foresters were laid off. Phillip accepted any kind of employment and Amanda was an excellent seamstress and sewed for many families. They raised rabbits and chicekns for their own use and to sell.

The family survived the Depression, and in the spring of 1934, Phillip received another appointment on the Reservation. He worked under several Suprerintendents of Klamath Agency including the late Wade Crawford, a very active worker in all endeavors to better the role of the Klamath Indians. Phillip admired Mr. Crawford a great deal and he and his wife Ida, became good friends with the Duffy family.

The Duffy family lived in Chiloquin until 1942, at which time they moved to Klamath Falls. Phillip died in 1951, and Amanda lived in Klamath Falls until her death in 1957.
