MIAMI, Okla. - Agnes Mabel Parsons Surridge, 80, of Miami, Okla., formerly of McCune, died at about 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 7, 1989, due to an accidental drowning at her home on the Neosho River at Miami.

She was born Feb. 9, 1909, in Mineral to George and Lelia (Givens) Kirby. She had lived north of McCune most of her her life, moving to Miami in 1974.

She was married to Ray Parsons on Sept. 1,1928. He died April 4,1967.

She was married to Charles Surridge on April 2,1970. He survives of the home.

Mrs. Surridge worked at the Kansas Army Ammunition Plant several years during the early 1940's and later worked as a cook for 13 years at the Parsons State Hospital and Training Center. She retired in 1970.

Mrs. Surridge was a member of the Mound and Mount Pleasant Quilting Clubs.

Survivors include; two daughters, Donna Cox of Amarillo, Texas, and Barbara Austin of Las Vegas, Nev; a son Robert Parsons of Bella Vista,Ark.; a stepson,Charles Surridge Jr of Pearl City, Hawaii; two sisters, Lois Groff of Okmulgee, Okla.,and Berniece King of Bald Knob, Ark., two brothers, Gordon Kirby of rural McCune and Delbert Kirby of Manhattan; 10 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and three stepgrandchildren.

A sister and two brothers preceded her in death.

The service will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Forbes Funeral Home of McCune with the Rev Delbert Chance officiating. Burial will be in the McCune Cemetery.

Friends may call after at the funeral home.

The family suggests memorials to the American Diabetes Association.
