John Henry Manley, 83, of 514 Roe Road, died Tuesday, Aug. 5, 2003, at Greenville Memorial Hospital.

Born in Pickens County, Mr. Manley was a son of the late Joseph McDaniel and Josephine Yates Manley. He worked in landscaping and grading and was of the Baptist faith.

Surviving are his wife, Ruby Davis Manley, of Piedmont; his loving companion, Helen Chapman, of Travelers Rest; a son, Jackie Manley, of Powdersville; a daughter, Jody Hughes, of Piedmont; two sisters, Edna Payne, of Greer, and Mattie Manley, of Honea Path; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, Mr. Manley was predeceased by two sons, Johnny and Jimmy Manley; six brothers, Clarence, Ernest, Alonzo, Clyde, Rosco and Edward Manley; and three sisters, Sallie Roach, Louise Kovacik and Frances Free.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday in the chapel of Robinson Funeral Home-Powdersville Road, Easley, with the Rev. Mark Bishop officiating. Burial will be at Greenville Memorial Gardens.

The body is at Robinson Funeral Home-Powdersville Road, where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today.

The family is at the residence.
