Army veteran

Linda served in the U.S. Army after graduating from high school with the Mishawaka High School Class of 1968. She married James Scott LATHAM in January 1971, in St. Joseph County. Her parents were Dorland B. HATFIELD (1921-1963) and Sybil POTTORFF (1918-2004). Linda's father died when she was 13. She was survived by her mother, her sister, and her brother.

Car crash kills Mrs. Latham in Maryland
Mrs. Linda Sue Latham, 33, of Arlington, Va., formerly of Mishawaka, was killed about 2:45 p.m. Wednesday in a traffic accident near Bethesda, Md. According to Montgomery County, Md., police, Mrs. Latham was driving east on a highway when she apparently lost control of her vehicle on the rain-slickened roadway. Officers reported her car struck another eastbound auto before leaving the roadway and traveling up an embankment. Mrs. Latham's car was then struck by a third vehicle, which also left the roadway and drove up the embankment, according to police. The impact caused Mrs. Latham's vehicle to overturn, according to officers, partially ejecting her from the vehicle and trapping her as it rolled over. She was pronounced dead at Suburban Hospital, Bethesda, shortly after the crash. She was born on Dec. 20, 1949, in Mishawaka, and moved to the Washington, D.C., area 12 years ago. She was attending the University of Virginia at Alexandria and previously worked at Arlington National Cemetery. Surviving are her mother of Mishawaka; a sister, of Mishawaka; and a brother of Dallas. She was a 1968 graduate of Mishawaka High School and a veteran of the Army.
