Angus was married twice. His first wife, Laura Gale, died at age 33 after giving birth to their sixth child in 1884. Angus then married Elizabeth McWhirter from Girvan, Ayrshire, Scotland. They remained together until Angus's death in 1911.

They were: Allan Angus (1873-1964), Henry Gale (1876-1954), Elizabeth Ethelyn (1880-1965) and Mabel Claire (1881-1968). Allan and Henry Ferguson married and had families, but their sisters Elizabeth and Mabel never married. Elizabeth and Mabel spent many years teaching in public schools throughout Denver before retiring.
