Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Wise were notified this week of the death of their son, Wesley Wise somewhere in France. Last week they received notice he was wounded on 2 Aug and that he had been seriously injured. Later the message stated that death occurred on 7 Aug. Sgt. Wise took part in the invasion of France on D Day 6 Jun and had participated in a number of major engagements. He was with an Armored Division and had been in the service for years having volunteered for service before Pearl Harbor. He had seen prior service in North Africa and had participated in 4 major battles in that area. He had received a citation for heroism during the Africa Campaign and was the recipient of the Good Conducted Medal and a medal for Expert Marksmanship.
