NORTH AUGUSTA, S.C. - Mrs. Bennie Nell Bagby Strickland, 90, beloved wife of the late Oliver Bennet Strickland, entered into rest on Friday, January 16, 2009 at
National Heathcare in North Augusta. Funeral services will be held on Monday, January 19, 2009 at 2:00 pm at Platt's Belair Road Chapel with the Rev. Steve Cartin officiating. Burial will follow in Bellevue Memorial Gardens. Mrs.
Strickland, a native of Cumming, Ga., was born December 20, 1918 to the late Gilford Virtus Bagby and Guss Tina Nuckells Bagby. She retired from the Thomson Company, Martinez Division. She was a member of Red Oak Baptist Church in Modoc, S.C., and was a past board member of Lost Wilderness Community in Clarks Hill. She was also a past teacher and worker in churches of which she was a member.
She is survived by her daughters, Phyllis S. Hewett (Jimmy), Judy S. Kirkland (Larry), and a son, Dwight Oliver Strickland (Betty), seven grandchildren, Phyllis Love Swain, James L. Hewett IV, Nancy Carroll Hinton Mitchum, Christopher Kirkland, Tina G. Kirkland, Doug Strickland, and Kimberly S. Fry as well as her ten great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her grandsons,
Sean Christopher Hewett and Scott Strickland. If so desired, memorials may be made to Red Oak Baptist Church, 174 Red Oak Grove Road, Modoc, SC. 29838. Pallbearers will be Phillip Swain, Chris Kirkland, Jimmy Bagby, Roger Bagby, Charles Bagby, Theodore Wood, Morris Wood and Douglas Wood.
